postheadericon Lot's of laughter, and some tears

To go back to yesterday - getting Harper was such a sweet and emotional moment.  We were waiting in a room with other families and in came a beautiful baby boy - it was a very emotional moment to watch this couple receive their son (first time being an onlooker - when we got Elon, our flight was delayed so we were late getting to the office - we did not get to see other's receiving their children).  By this time we all did not know what to do, sit or stand, smile or cry, Camden looked at me, with tears in his eye's, and said I can't believe we are getting ready to get Harper.  He may hate that I am writing this but I think he cried more then anyone.  This boy truly understand's and get's what we are doing - not to mention that he was an awesome picture taker!

Harper walked in next, she had no tears, and looked so very brave, even though I know she was scared.  The four of us probably overwhelmed her, everyone wanting to be close.  She perked up when we gave her the backpack of goodies.  She put on the necklaces, & jewelry within seconds.  She was precious, it is a moment we will never forget.

She is doing very well - I can not believe we are already seeing smiles and laughter.  Actually, I can with the two comedians we have in our family.  Camden and Elon have been wonderful for Harper.  She was so quiet and very shy when she first met us but it is amazing what a few hours and a bunch of silliness will do.  The kids have been running around the hotel room, laughing and cracking up.

It started with some bouncy balls, Camden starting rolling them to her and she would throw them back to him.  This girl has an arm on her!

She also received a beautiful picture book from the orphanage.  Lot's of picture's of her smiling.

She had obviously played on an iphone before, she knew how to slide the picture's to look at the next one.  We downloaded a Mandarin app matching game and she had it figured out in seconds!

She loved the jump ropes that Elon had picked out.  Yes, she can jump, and run, and be incredibly silly!

Bubbles were also a big hit

She found the bows, headbands, jewelry, balloons, and Baba's sunglasses!

And this is how they walk everywhere we go.  It is precious!

I have been saying her name all wrong - Yun Jue is her chinese name.  Of course, I was saying it like an american - well, that is all wrong.  You say her name like this: Ying Jew-A.  Elon is calling her Jing Away.  It is so funny!  I keep thinking - jingle all the way :)

Now for the tears - She did not cry until that night.  The kid's had been playing so hard.  I knew she had to be exhausted.  Well Elon and Harper were on the bed with Cole - Elon rolled toward Harper and knocked her off the bed.  It scared Harper, she did not cry loudly but just tears. Giant alligator tears.  And then she just shut down.  She just sat there, big tears, not moving, it was the most heartbreaking thing to witness.  I know it was more then just being scared from falling off the bed.  We just wanted to make everything better, but really we can't.  Even though we know what her life will be, she does not.  She will go through grieving and that is good.  Please pray that her heart will heal.

Things got better.  Went to dinner with another couple here in Shanghai who also adopted.  Great Italian!  Harper put on her pajama's for two seconds, then wanted to put her other clothes back on - including her shoes.  And just like Elon's first night with us - she wore her shoe's to bed.  Too funny!

Oh my goodness!! How sweet are the pictures of your two girls walking hand in hand!!! What a blessing to have Elon and Camden there with you. I know the shut-downs must be hard to watch. I'm praying for Miss Harper and that her heart will heal quickly.
