We meet Harper in 13 hours!
Tomorrow morning (Sunday night US time) we will meet our sweet little Harper Faith. It is amazing how it seemed like it took forever and now seems like time flew by. It was less then a year ago that Cole and I knew that we were to pursue this sweet little girl, that we had only seen a picture of...No name, no birthday, no information...
Just a picture...this picture (that is her in the pink sweatshirt)
and a diagnoses...
Leukemia
For those of you who have not ventured too far into our blog - Our newest daughter has been through treatment for Leukemia. We were not even thinking about adopting again, much less thinking about adopting a child who had been through treatment for Leukemia, yet, God had a different plan. When we saw this picture something happened. I can not explain it, but she was special to us. Cole would occasionally come home and ask "Have you heard anything else about Harper?" (Harper was the name given to our precious little girl by another mom who has adopted from Shanghai - She is mom to John Wesley, one of Harper's friends - and she will always be special to us - can not wait to meet Sharon and JohnWesley in person one day!) I would search through pictures from other mom's who had adopted from Shanghai hoping to see this sweet little face. We prayed for her healing. We put her picture on our refrigerator. We were falling in love.
Considering that Cole thought "we are done" when it came to our family - it was amazing to hear him come to me, months after we first saw this picture, and say that we were suppose to adopt again AND we are suppose to adopt Harper! Not knowing that this was even possible, we decided to step out in faith and we made the call to our agency. We told them about this little girl that we had a picture of, knew she was in Shanghai, and knew she had been through treatment for Leukemia - they said let us make a few calls. Amazingly they called back, had found her, and said that the orphanage said they would get her paperwork together! What!! That easy?? We moved forward with the process to adopt, with the hope that everything would work out. And guess what? It did - everything, and I mean EVERYTHING has falling into place. Our paperwork being completed, just in time for Harper's paperwork to be completed, to her file going onto the Shared List, to us locking her file, to now, being in Shanghai to get her.
BUT,
that really isn't the amazing part - the amazing part is the PEACE that we have had since the moment we took that first step of faith. The moment we said OK, we are going to do what we felt like God was leading us to do - we have been at peace. And truly it was a peace that "transcends all understanding". It even felt tangible at moments. We should have been scared or fearful at times but I am completely honest when I say there has not been one moment. There is NO DOUBT that God is placing this child in our family. Please know, I am not saying that I think that means that everything is going to be easy from here on out (I hope that everything will be easy..lol) what I am saying is we have complete trust that whatever come's our way, God will be with us - He will see us through.
Can not wait to hold our precious daughter. Next pictures posted will be of her!
Oh goodness, the anxiousness has begun...

Dawn, it is all God. All of it. What other reason would there be for me to single out that sweet face over all of the other sweet faces to ask about? It was HER....it was GOD. God knew you were her parents and He gave me that little push to ask about her. My heart SANK when I read that she had leukemia but God knew that it would be okay and that you would be the perfect family for her. I just can not tell you how excited I am for all of you! Post ASAP so I don't drive my poor hubby crazy!!! LOL (((hugs)))
What a wonderful story leading you to her! Can't wait to see and hear how everything goes!
