postheadericon Birthday Girls

I love celebrating these two.  They bring so much joy (and yes, craziness) to our lives.  I find it hard to put into words the joy I feel as a parent to my four children.  Indescribable joy!  Thats it :)  And these two are bubbling over with joy, and I just can't stand it!  I love that their birthdays are exactly a week apart.  Elon turned 8 on April 17th, and Harper turned 7 on April 24th.

This is what cupcakes look like after traveling in a car for 5+ hours, not to mention the
huge candle hovering on top!  My mom and I could not stop laughing…don't judge :)

Elon is really growing up.  She knows what she wants, and even more...she knows what she does not want.  That includes what she wears, what she plays, and everything else in her world.  She is super silly, and when she gets the silly's, it is all over with - she can not stop laughing.  Her favorite thing to say is "Can I tell you something?" - and she has A LOT to tell, she never stops talking.  She is the best eater on the planet, I can count on one hand how many foods she does not like (It is so pleasant having such a good eater!).  She is a friend to all.  She is a dare devil and a tom-boy, but she does LOVE everything Frozen (especially Elsa).  She wants to play soccer more then anything, and she wants to be a Fireman when she gets older.  She falls often and the first words out of her mouth is "I'm OK!!!".
But the best thing about Elon is how much she loves Jesus.

Harper is gentle and quiet.  I have to pull words out of her.  I often wonder what is going on in that beautiful head of hers.  She tells me often that she does not like to talk, but I make her.  She is really coming out of her shell though, and getting as silly as her sister.  And even though she enjoys following her sisters lead, she is a princess at heart.  She loves to get her nails done & her hair fixed.  She wants to wear a bow and loves that her hair is getting longer.  Harper will fall asleep within 2 seconds of the car pulling out of the driveway.  She is a perfectionist.  She has the best posture of any person I have ever seen (and I often find myself sitting up straight when I see her).  She wants to be a "cooker" (chef) when she gets older.  She can fold clothes and make a bed like someone just coming out of boot camp.  She does not make decisions quickly but thinks through everything very carefully.  But her favorite thing to do is snuggle with mommy and I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Harper wanted to make her own birthday cake!  She loves to cook.  It was delicious!!!

These two are only 12 months apart and could not be more different!  I LOVE that they have their very own personalities and differences.  I am so blessed to be their mommy and
thankful for EVERY part of who they are.

The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you,
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
and give you peace.
Amen!

postheadericon Easter Fun

This Easter we went to visit Mimi and Pop Pop in Virginia.  Unfortunately, sickness hit!  Yet we still had some fun before we had to head back home…

Coloring Easter eggs was fun for the girls….

We had to force my oldest to color at least one egg…but at least he did it with a smile :)

This boy cracks me up ALL DAY!

The ONE egg is almost complete!

And my other silly kid…

We also went to my Aunt's house for a family Easter Egg Hunt!
Some of my cousins precious little girls waiting to be set loose to find those eggs...

Harper loved it!

My kids with my cousins sons…these guys created a real life Donkey Kong game by rolling barrels down a hill while someone attempted to jump over them...

And this girl is the one who had a hard time getting over the barrels…yes, she is covered in mud….and no, this does not surprise me :)

Time for Easter baskets!

By this time, Case was down for the count.  My poor boy!

So I was only able to get "pretty" pictures of the girls...

Elon's Easter gift to me was allowing me to put a bow in her hair.  She was over it at this point and ready to rip this dress off…can you tell she is already trying to un-tie the back of her dress?

Now all is right in her world…no bow and super hero pajamas.
My two girls could not be any more different, and I love it!

postheadericon A Half Marathon and Disney!

Thanks to a bet with my husband…my sister and I completed our first (and most likely my last) half marathon!  I kept waiting for the "love" of running to kick in.  I was told by some runners that I know,  that "I would LOVE it and would not want to stop"….well, that did not happen to me.  The shorter distance runs, a 5k and even a 10k, I can see doing again.  But to run a half marathon again…um, no.  Sorry, wish I loved it, but I don't.  I really learned to truly appreciate cars after running 13 miles.  LOL!
Yet, I am proud that I set this goal for myself and completed it!
-and thankful it is over :)
Waiting to start…at 5:30am!  What?!?!

Proof that I completed it!

Now for the best part….after running the half marathon, we were able to enjoy Disney with our kids.  It was Harper's first Disney trip and all of my sister's kids first time too!  My parents even came :)
So excited to get to share this with them.  We had a blast!
Ready for our first day…these were some very excited kids!

This is how Levi rode almost every ride…NO HANDS!  Love this little guy!

This picture cracks me up.  Our crew is on the first two rows…none of the kids would even look because they were so scared!  Hilarious!

Pop Pop and Elon singing their duet!  Love how silly my daddy is, he always makes everything fun :)

 Time for Bippity Boppity Boutique!

Harper was so shy, yet so excited.  It made me cry to see her precious expressions!

Even my tom boy was excited!

Love this picture with all the girls watching Elon's "reveal"!

Our princesses!

 Precious!

She fits right in with the princesses.

A big moment during this trip was when Elon overcame one of her fears.  She has always disliked costumes/masks (which is why she is not pictured with the princesses above).  Dislike is a very mild word for how she feels, it is more like running away kicking, screaming, and crying.  Petrified or hate would be a better word. Yet, she became brave during breakfast one morning.
I was so proud of her because I know how hard this was for her.  Way to go Elon!!!

Such a fun trip!!!
